Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22, 1985 New York City New York) is well-known for her ability to act across different genres such as period dramas to thrillers to action films. Johansson has a father who is a filmmaker as well as an architect. The family is from New York City. The twin brothers Hunter and her were among the youngest of siblings. At the age of seven years old, her passion for acting was growing. She started to audition for commercials. In a brief time span beginning her study with the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. In the years following, the Professional Children's School was opened in Manhattan. In the year she turned eight old, she starred with Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway musical. At the age of nine her debut film was Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson played the lead role on screen in Just Cause (1995), after which she made her debut with Manny & Lo - a story of two sisters and orphans that get away. She next earned the attention of critics for her character in the film as a teen who been injured in a horrific accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention for her role as the cynical teenage exiled Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
